Great Backyard Bird Count is February 16th-19th, 2018

Celebrate the Year of the Bird by participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC)! The GBBC is an annual community science event that creates a real-time snapshot of bird populations across the world. All you have to do is count birds for 15 minutes on one or more days between February 16th and 19th. But you can count longer, more often, and in as many places as you like.

Click here to create an account, and find more information and helpful tips. if you already have an eBird account, you can submit your observations as usual. This is a great opportunity to introduce new people to the excitement of birding, so bring along a friend!

If you’re not sure how to get started, join us at Eaton Canyon Nature Center on Sunday, February 18th, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. You can either join Hill Penfold’s excellent monthly walk (meet at the flagpole), or visit the outreach team at our table in front of the Nature Center. The GBBC is a fun reason to get out and bird this weekend. We hope you’ll join us!
